Gombe State NYSC State Coordinator Courtesy Visit to IMF

The Idris Mohammed Foundation (IMF), Gombe State, hosted the State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Gombe State, Nnena Chinwe Nwachuku, on a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Foundation and the NYSC scheme. The programme commenced with an opening prayer led by Mallam Bashiru, after which participants introduced themselves individually.

In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Idris Mohammed Foundation, Alhaji Professor Idris Mohammed, expressed gratitude to Almighty God for preserving the lives of everyone present to witness the occasion.

He explained that the Foundation was established in 2017 with the mission of ensuring that every community has access to basic healthcare services and other essential social services in support of the Universal Health Coverage goal, in collaboration with government agencies. He further highlighted the Foundation’s vision of improving access to basic needs, including health education, quality healthcare services in rural, hard-to-reach, and underserved communities, strengthening healthcare systems at both the state and local government levels, and providing humanitarian assistance during and after crises, natural disasters, and community conflicts.

Describing the Foundation as a non-governmental organization (NGO), Professor Idris Mohammed stated that its driving motivation is to give back to the community in appreciation of the support and opportunities it has received.

He also noted that the Foundation has partnered with several government agencies to provide essential healthcare services and humanitarian support to communities across the state. In her remarks, the NYSC Gombe State Coordinator, Mrs. Nnena Chinwe Nwachuku, commended the Foundation for its outstanding contributions to healthcare delivery and community development. She emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between the Idris Mohammed Foundation and the NYSC Gombe State Secretariat, particularly in promoting the health and well-being of corps members. She added that the NYSC possesses well-trained personnel who can contribute meaningfully to the Foundation’s programmes and healthcare initiatives. Also speaking during the visit, Dr. Hadu Dahiru, a Board Member of the Idris Mohammed Foundation, informed the State Coordinator about the welfare of corps members posted to the Foundation for their primary assignment.

He explained that the Foundation provides them with suitable accommodation, spacious office facilities, and opportunities to participate in various professional training programmes aimed at enhancing their skills beyond the service year. He further disclosed that corps members who demonstrate dedication and excellence in their duties are often considered for employment by the Foundation after completing their national service. The visit concluded with a renewed commitment from both the NYSC Gombe State Secretariat and the Idris Mohammed Foundation to strengthen their partnership in promoting quality healthcare services, supporting corps members, and contributing to the overall well-being of communities across Gombe State. The Idris Mohammed Foundation reaffirmed its commitment as a non-governmental organization dedicated to complementing government efforts in delivering quality healthcare outreach and humanitarian services to society.
